Hirneisen Electric, a preferred PECS contractor, completed work at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Grenier Advanced Manufacturing Center.

The $23.9 million project added 60,000 square-feet by constructing two buildings on the site of the former National Guard Armory, a short distance from the College’s main campus on the eastern side of Lancaster City.

The Center was developed to increase capacity and access to three in-demand manufacturing majors: HVAC-R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration), Computer Integrated Machining (CIM) and Metals Fabrication and Welding Technology.

The south building contains expanded classroom space for the HVAC-R and CIM programs. It also includes dedicated computer labs and flex space for training and industry-based conferences. The north building features expanded space for the Metals Fabrication and Welding Technology program, including classrooms, laboratory space, computer labs, a drafting room, flex space and a spacious area to host industry demonstrations.

Hirneisen successfully bid on the $3.4 million electrical contract and completed their portion of the work, on-time and on-budget. Their electricians and electrical workers needed roughly 19,000 man hours to finish their work.

Hirneisen Electric was the perfect candidate to complete the work because of their expertise in both industrial construction as well as educational construction. Their highly skilled and highly trained electricians worked safely on the job, which ensured they could meet all turnover dates.
