Pennsylvania Electrical Contractor Solutions preferred contractor, Hirneisen Electric is working to prepare an elementary school for the expected return of students in the fall.
The project, which is taking place at Adamstown Elementary School, got off to a late start due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite Pennsylvania’s statewide “Stay at Home” order, the school received permission from the state to allow construction to begin on this vital project. With no students in the building, contractors were able to work on the entire building.
When the project is complete, there will be a new addition to house the school’s offices, which will free up the current offices to be transformed into three new classrooms. The ceilings throughout the school are also being replaced and new LED fixtures are being installed.
Additional work on the project includes installing new low-voltage lighting controls and a combination of new and old fire alarm equipment.
In the kitchen, new power is being pulled in to feed two new coolers.
A new stage lighting system is also being installed, complete with LED lighting and automation.
As a way to improve all of the classrooms in the school, new surface wiremold is being installed in each room to allow for computers and a 60KW/75KVA - 120/208 generator is being installed to replace an antiquated one.
Lastly, two automatic transfer switches were installed for non-critical and life-safety emergency power.
As of right now, some of the classrooms have ceilings installed with new LED fixtures and controls. Walls are being added to the addition with conduit installation.
