Pennsylvania Electrical Contractor Solutions preferred contractor, Hirneisen Electric is working to complete work throughout the Reading School District.
All of the work consists of replacing old services with new, modernized services.
Currently, the highly trained and highly skilled Hirneisen Electric electricians are completing work at Northwest Middle School before they begin to work on the District’s other buildings. Once the work at Northwest Middle School is complete, they will head over to Northeast and Southwest Middle Schools.
The four electricians currently working at Northwest Middle School have been tasked to install a new transformer and gear, which will help provide power to the school from the incoming source across the street.
The school building itself is an old structure. Before it was transformed into a school, the facility was a hospital. The structure still contains switchgear dating back to 1962, with some resembling that of even earlier periods. Once complete, the new transformer and gear will be placed on a pad and vault across the street.
The electricians have already installed new conduit for the eight feeders from the switch outside to the new gear. New feeders will run from a utility pole into the school and any old switchgear will be replaced with new switchgear.
The work at the other two middle schools will be more complex, as complete power shutdowns will be necessary to complete the work, which is slated to begin in July and is expected to stretch into early August.
While four electricians are currently working on this project, an additional four will be needed once work on the two other portions begin.
Thanks to their expertise in educational construction, Hirneisen was trusted to work on this project. Throughout their time at the Reading School District, they are expected to work safely and complete the work on time and on budget. The work must be completed before teachers and students return to school.
