Pennsylvania Electrical Contractor Solutions preferred contractor Hirneisen Electric completed construction on a new dorm hall at the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, working through the adversity of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At full capacity, the dorm hall will allow the college to increase their on-campus housing capabilities to accommodate 300 more students.
As previously reported, a stay-home order by Gov. Tom Wolf halted construction for approximately five-weeks. Hirneisen compensated for this by sending additional electricians to the project when work was permitted to resume.
When last reported in August, the crew was shrunk back down to pre-shutdown size and the remaining electricians were working on finishing touches. The Hirneisen electricians were working on installing lighting, fire alarm and data systems, receptacles and switches.
Hirneisen led the charge to the finish line, working on-time and on-schedule to deliver quality and timely work to Thaddeus Stevens.
One of the last large tasks that needed to be completed was the removal of old gear, re-feeding panels, installing and feeding some new panels and installing and feeding a new 800-amp service. This was completed quickly over the time of one weekend, when the building was shut down.
